Networking Online
This page contains links used in my talk to Queensland Spinners, Weavers and Fibre Artists on 5 July 2008.
Newsgroups:
Newsgroups
are places on the internet where people can discuss similar interests.
You can receive posts by email or look through them online.Blogs:
Blogs (short for weB LOGS) are personal online journals. Some have a large following and large numbers of comments.
Most blogs have RSS feeds which allow you to automate checking for new posts using an RSS reader
You can create your own blog many different ways. Blogger is free and handles just about everything for you.
Blogs
with audio posts are called "podcasts". You can subscribe in
i-tunes and have the episodes automatically downloaded into your ipod,
or use a regular RSS reader and download the episodes to listen on your
computer.
Social Networking Sites:
Facebook and MySpace
are generic social networking sites that are quite popular with the
computer generations. Now knitting has it's own equivalent, Ravelry.
